Plenty of us wake up a little slow. A short, gentle routine is a good way to ease into the day, and it only takes about ten minutes. Move at your own pace, stay within what feels comfortable, and skip anything that doesn't suit you.
Before you start
Have a glass of water, sit up slowly, and give yourself a minute on the edge of the bed. If you have a health condition, balance concerns or a recent injury, check with your doctor before starting any new routine.
Minute 1 to 2: Breathe and settle
Sit tall in a sturdy chair, feet flat on the floor. Take slow breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth. Let your shoulders drop.
Minute 3 to 4: Neck and shoulders
Turn your head slowly to one side, then the other. Roll your shoulders back five times, then forward five times. Keep it small and easy.
Minute 5 to 6: Hands, wrists and arms
Open and close your hands ten times. Circle your wrists in both directions. Reach your arms overhead and lower them slowly.
Minute 7 to 8: Hips and knees
Still seated, straighten one knee and hold for a few seconds, then switch sides. March gently in place. Hold the chair if it helps with balance.
Minute 9 to 10: Stand and sway
Stand behind the chair with both hands on the back. Rise onto your toes a few times, then take a short walk around the room.
Make it stick
Pick the same time every day, right after coffee or right after breakfast works for many people. Keep a small calendar by the kitchen table and put a check mark on each day you do it. Consistency matters more than effort.
If a topical is part of your routine
Some people like to add a balm after movement. The Recovery Standard stick and the Recovery Concentrate are both Zero THC, and every batch is lab tested with reports on our Lab Results page. Patch-test first, and it's always a menu, never a requirement.
