Frequently Asked Questions
Restore. Recover. Be Resilient.
Hemp comes with a lot of jargon and a lot of hype. Here are straight answers to what people actually ask us — and if yours isn't here, just ask. Real people answer.
The basics
What is CBD, really?
CBD (cannabidiol) is a naturally occurring compound found in the hemp plant. It is non-intoxicating — it won't get you "high" — and it's one of over a hundred cannabinoids in the plant. Think of it as a wellness tool, not a medicine.
Will it get me high?
No. The "high" associated with marijuana comes from THC, not CBD. Our two topicals — Recovery Standard and Recovery Concentrate — are Zero THC. Our gummies are broad spectrum, which means the THC has been removed during processing.
Hemp vs. marijuana — what's the difference?
They share a family tree (Cannabis sativa) but serve different purposes. Hemp is the workhorse of the family: federally legal, low in THC, used for everything from rope and textiles to wellness products. Marijuana is the high-THC variety. K61 is 100% hemp, federally compliant, 0.3% THC or less.
Broad spectrum, full spectrum, or isolate?
Three words that do most of the work in this category:
- Broad spectrum — the plant's range of compounds with the THC removed. Our Resilience Rounds (02) are broad spectrum.
- Full spectrum — keeps trace THC (≤0.3%). K61 doesn't use it.
- Isolate — CBD alone, nothing else from the plant. Our two topicals (01 and 03) are CBD isolate — which is exactly why they're Zero THC.
Neither one is "better" in the abstract. Isolate is the cleanest choice if you're drug tested; broad spectrum keeps more of the plant's other compounds.
What is the endocannabinoid system?
It's a biological system of receptors and enzymes found throughout the body that helps regulate things like mood, sleep, appetite and immune function. CBD interacts with this system. That's the mechanism — not a promise about what it will do for you.
Kansas & the law
Is CBD legal in Kansas?
Yes. Hemp-derived CBD with less than 0.3% THC is legal in Kansas under both state and federal law. K61's founder, Joel Sandoval, took part in the Kansas Department of Agriculture's stakeholder meetings around the Kansas Industrial Hemp Act of 2018, and was licensed as a hemp grower under the state's Industrial Hemp Research Program in 2019.
Do I need to be 21?
Yes. K61 products are for adults 21 and over. Keep them out of reach of children.
Drug tests & safety
Will it show up on a drug test?
This is the question we get most from people who drive, nurse, compete, or work anywhere with testing — so here's the honest version.
Most standard tests screen for THC, not CBD. Our topicals are CBD isolate and Zero THC — the cleanest end of this category — and our gummies are broad spectrum. But no brand can promise you a result, and anyone who does is overselling.
If you are subject to testing, talk to your testing provider before using any hemp product. We'll give you the actual lab numbers to bring to that conversation — see Lab Results.
Is it safe for me?
CBD is generally well tolerated, and the World Health Organization has stated it shows no potential for abuse. That said, CBD can interact with certain medications. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before adding any new supplement to your routine — especially if you take prescriptions, are pregnant or nursing, or have a medical condition.
Can I give it to my pet?
We'd rather you didn't. Our products are formulated for human biology. Talk to your veterinarian about products made for animals.
How much, how long
How much should I take?
There's no one-size-fits-all. Start low, go slow — begin with a small serving and give it time before increasing. Our gummies are pre-dosed at 25 mg per round, so a half round is a reasonable starting point if you're new to CBD.
How long until I notice anything?
It depends on how you're taking it:
- Resilience Rounds (gummies) — 30 to 90 minutes, since they go through your system.
- Topicals (balm stick, concentrate) — 15 to 45 minutes, and they stay where you put them.
Can I use more than one product?
Yes. The three products are a menu, not a sequence — use one, two, or all three. Nothing here requires buying the rest. See Product Guides if you're deciding where to start.
The K61 standard
Where is your hemp grown?
Our hemp is sourced from U.S.-grown, federally compliant farms. K61 is a Kansas company, founded and run from Hutchinson.
Are your products lab tested?
Yes — every batch, by an independent accredited third-party laboratory. We publish the reports rather than making you ask for them.
Every K61 product also carries a QR code on the label. Scan it any time to pull the report for the batch in your hand.
How do I read a CBD label?
Check two numbers: total mg in the container and mg per use. A big number on the front means nothing until you divide it by how many servings are inside. Then check the spectrum — broad, full or isolate. Those three facts let you compare any two brands honestly.
