Understanding CBD: Nature's Most Talked-About Compound

What Is CBD?
CBD (cannabidiol) is a naturally occurring compound found in the hemp plant (Cannabis sativa). Unlike THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), CBD is non-intoxicating — meaning it won't get you "high." Hemp vs. Marijuana: What's the Difference?
Both hemp and marijuana come from the Cannabis sativa plant, but they are legally and chemically distinct:
- Hemp is the low-THC variety, legal to grow and sell as a finished product within set THC limits.
- Marijuana contains higher concentrations of THC and remains a controlled substance at the federal level.

Types of CBD

Is CBD Legal in Kansas?
Yes. Kansas law caps a finished hemp product at 0.3% total THC — and Kansas counts every form of THC toward that number, not just delta-9, which makes it a stricter test than the federal standard at the same number. Kansas also makes a few categories unlawful to sell regardless of THC content, including hemp cigarettes, cigars, chew, teas and vape liquids. How Do People Use CBD?
CBD comes in several forms. K61 makes two of them:

You will also see oils and tinctures and capsules on the wider market. K61 does not make them. Inhalable forms — vapes and smokable flower — are a different matter: hemp liquids for vaping devices are unlawful to sell in Kansas, regardless of how little THC they contain.
